I honestly can't wait. Going to go from grotty little flat in east London to King of the castle with change in my pocket. Don't think you can get decent pizza there though, prob just start my own pizza place.

Congrats man! Tells us about it next easts. I really want a house.

There's that place on St Benedict's, forget what it's called. I'm NOT thinking of Pizza Express, not that they're terrible. Little indy place next door. Me and Mrs Sparky regularly used to eat in there and get sozzled on house red for not a lot of £££.

Throw me the details captain, I always struggle to find somewhere decent food wise when I'm back.

Don't expect miracles, but do expect to spend £50 for two people to fill up with decent pasta and vino, then toddle off to one of the Fine City's fine boozers or theatres.

Cheers buddy. I'll check it out next time I'm back. I hear there's another place open, maybe near the market? Wood fired oven and all that.
-
• #12888
Not sure. If you get details, let me know. Me and Mrs Sparky are back there a couple of times in the next month.

Why do you need to fit one, if you don't mind me asking?
I used to live in Newington Green, which used to be a burglary hotspot in the 90s. Specifically, our road used to be a burglary hotspot. These were everywhere left over from those days and they are so ugly. Is the crime where you are really that bad?
Crime in London has dropped massively since the days of everyone fitting those things.

So managed to get 4.5% knocked off our offer which is nice - so have to go back to mortgage company to change amount? And looks like exchange should be happening in Feb.
Having looked through the survey nothing was really mentioned about the removal - should I contact them about it?
vendor accepted the drop in price quite quickly as I think they are getting worried - so I'm wondering if I could chip more of the price...

Certainly not as far as I'm aware.

It's no big deal but when u remortgage (if you have a mortgage) then the lender might insist on an indemnity policy for the lack of building control consent.
If they applied to the council for consent and they have the building control sign off then that's fine, but if they don't you'll get lumbered with paying for it. So ask your solicitor to check.
I don't know what you are paying for the house but the market round cann hall is pretty strong with crap houses going under offer even if they are asking 485 or so for them..

Imagine that, building a garage to build the car in.
Imagine trying to sell that to the boss.

there's not a lot of land, as it is in a town. it's also grade ii listed, so any mods would be difficult.
i am currently looking into something like this: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/commercial-property-for-sale/property-38864343.html (but smaller) and then seeing if i can rent a space or two to help with the mortgage.

sarah's is the one that is massively in love with the house. i am trying to work out how to get around it's flaws. if ever there was a chance to slide a scheme like that past her, this is it.
i might ask the farmer near her ma and da's if i can buy some land and build a big fnck off shed.
my life would be complete

It depends on what changes you're looking to make, what parts of the building the listing relates to and whether or not the changes affect any original fabric, or whether any views of the building are affected from public land etc.
It's possible to do very contemporary extensions even to Grade I listed buildings, so whilst there is more risk of getting knocked back at planning, its still very common to make changes to listed buildings (in London at least). Speak to an architect or a planning consultant to get a stear on what they think is possible. If similar buildings in the area are listed search planning records to see if other extensions have been permitted etc.
Not sure how a garage extension may fit into this. If it was separate from the house, it might depend whether the listed status related just to the house itself or its setting too.
Barsteward, that sounds amazing. I can't complain, ours has a single garage and small workshop but 1950s garages are tiny. Good job I like two wheel things.
