  • Ta very much.

And yes it needs a full refurb much as I love artex, lime green paint, cladding, polystyrene ceiling tiles, wood and brass ceiling fans etc etc ;)

  • No worries - yours has also had the chimney breasts removed from only the ground floors too but I presume your survey picked that up.

    We like it round here.

  • Sounds identical to ours right down to the ceiling fan which is currently lying in pieces in the shed.

There was also a weird fire effect gas thing we ripped out that looks nuclear like some relic from Fallout 4.

  • On the bright side ours 237 in September (despite completing in December) is a few doors down from a same spec 290 and a 275 that both just completed which bodes well.

The only problem I have with property is that when I want to sell here and move somewhere nice, the nice place will be even further out of reach.

  • You guys still talking about Leytonstone? (I can never remember who is where).

I'm still renovating my place. I can recommend various tradesmen and may have spare bits and bobs left over from some of my work.

  • Bob Geldof lives in Faversham.

Used to be a shit hole when I was a nipper, not sure about now but it's easy enough to get out and go do the viking trail, have fresh oysters on the coast etc

  • Cheers @Kat_Balou I get a good feeling about it.

  • There's also the Crab and Winkle Way which is quite nice

  • Yeah, is there an issue with that? I was just planning on having them knocked out upstairs as well.

  • No issue per se but they have been done with gallows brackets by the looks of things which the council normally doesn't like- its the cheap way of doing it (but it does work)

Make sure if the work hasn't been signed off by the council that you get an indemnity policy from the vendor

Or even better do as you suggest and get them taken out all the way to the loft and get the stack supported from there

  • Woo! I've just had an offer accepted on the house I wanted.
Now someone please buy my flat.

  • congrats BQ!

    G'luck.

  • Where abouts are you off to BQ?

  • West Hampstead.
    I am so excited.

  • aces

  • the enemy and i really like the house we looked at, but we are dithering around because we are pooing our pants.

no garage. can i deal with no garage? i could buy a little workshop, but that defeats the no-mortgage plan...

  • the ramblings of a confused man...

  • I wanted a garage. It drastically limits the availability of things. You can have so much more house without one, but boy is it nice to be able to have a decent garage and workshop.
The place we are buying was built as the stable block for an ironworks, and the garage is huge. Enough room for a 4 post lift. Which means 2 cars. Plus the bikes, motorcycles and a workshop. And a wine cellar.

  • i am fncked without one, but we really like the house. we have been looking for a while, you know when the belly tells you it is right, regardless of the fatal flaw?

the vendor has said that we would find one with the neighbours, which is fine for the car that is running and usable, but there is the little problem of the car that is as far away from being a working car as possible.

  • Maybe one for the DIY thread...

I need to get a security grill fitted, pretty much exactly like:

Does anyone know a good supplier & fitter in London? Current ££ quotes are horrifying...!

  • sell what? the car? have you lost your mind?

  • where is this dream mansion?

  • wiltshire

  • the enemy and i really like the house we looked at, but we are dithering around because we are pooing our pants.

Haha. Oh mate. You're having the exact same dilemma as us.

We're not quite into "no mortgage" if we go for the no-parking option but we will hopefully have a smaller death-contract.

I too am shitting my kecks about the leap though
