Yeah I've used it with 1/8 chainring, It have to be 130bcd so you don't have much choice and almost none good looking. I will be selling ones from the photo as i'm getting another pair in better nick if you're interested.

Should be a 5mm allen key, as almost all any other crank bolts.. If you're having trouble removing them, don't insist, those black mavic (nylon?) bolts tend to get stuck a lot..
