It's just terrible to lose Wayne, to sudden death of all things. I'm sure he was younger than me, too. Such a lovely man. I respected him hugely and he was a major reason why it's such a great forum. I always thought of him as having excellent judgement and much wisdom, with him usually being a few steps ahead, one of the people the world relies on.
Everything he designed for the forum is a classic and even if nobody had ever met him that alone would have ensured he was going to be remembered. He seemed to have this instinctive understanding of design that I imagine few can match--pitching it just right, never over-designing, making the things he did easily understandable while still making them look good. (In saying that, I can't claim any particular design competence, but it all worked for me and I tried to learn from him--so much stuff gets designed and Wayne's work always stood out.)
I'll miss you much, big chimpmaster, may you find not only the grup(p)etto but the best gruppo in the sky.
