RIP Big Daddy Wayne

What a shock. Always enjoyed bumping into Wayne at drinks. RIP.

I'm just off to chop the top off a few cycling caps.

I saw lots of pics of him surface on facebook from different people last night and for a second worried that they were in memoriam but as I couldnt see any mention of his passing I put it out of my head as me being ridiculous. then this morning I saw a guy who was his spit outside moorgate station and very nearly shouted hello until I realised it wasn't him.

truly saddened to hear of his passing, we were definitely only the loosest of acquaintances but the few times I had the opportunity to chat to him properly I could see why he was so liked by the forums old guard. one particular conversation that sticks in my mind was bumping into him after managing to lose Ma3k's off-road ride to brighton along the thames path and randomly bumping into him while i was looking particularly lost and he pulled up to make sure I didn't need any help.

I'll be wearing my cutters t-shirt in his honour tomorrow.

I sensed something was wrong or may have happened to Wayne when I noticed a few images being reposted of him on my facebook feed by others here.

I didn't know him that well at all, only met him on a few of occasions, but he was always a true gentleman. He had time for everyone and it's little things like that that got me hooked on the forum and meeting other members.

RIP Wayne.

Festus had some on his itunes podcast back in the day - might be worth hitting him up. They were among my fave Bright Times mixes - Autumn Leaves was particularly fine. Will dig out my ipod tonight.

I don't think I ever had the honour of meeting Wayne in the flesh. Always a part of that indefatigable core of the forum though and even in those occasional and brief interactions you could tell he was a good man with a great heart.

Alas, we'll never be graced with the good people for as long as we could hope. Hopefully we'll remember to value them in person and not just in memory.

Goodbye Wayne, I'll see you on the road.

Met him a few times over the years, usually for an enthusiastic chat about American Ti and typography.

Sad times

The few times I met him he was super kind and generous. Last time I saw him was over a tea at his when collecting a frame, I remember him showing me loads of brilliant photos on his phone that he'd covertly snapped on busy commuter trains. I've tried so often to take similar photos but they were never as good as his.

Such sad news. Always such a pleasure to share a laugh and a gasper with you back in the day. RIP big man.

As many others have said, it's hard to believe this is real. Wayne and I were not close, but we saw each other regularly enough for polo and drinks. Despite our distance, out of the blue, I got a PM from him saying he had spotted and 'dib'sed a second hand black Langster frame for me to use as a polo bike. I had not asked him nor even directly said to him that I was looking for a frame. That bike became the 'angst' bike that many now know, and which I still love to ride to this day. If it weren't for him, its existence would never have been known to me. Thank you Wayne, for this and for being yet another stalwart of the forum who made it what it was and what it is today. We need only look at the testaments on this thread to understand and appreciate his impact on so many people.
