Larger than life and you are missed already. Knowing that you're not alive makes the world a sadder place. From seeing you at the N, E, S and West drinks, forum events and the odd meet up for a coffee at Monmouth to talk about work.
You always called me smiler but that's only cos you were smiling at me.

Oh man, I double-posted as I hadn't seen this one... deleted mine, moved my comment here.

I was holding back until I heard it was OK to post... but it does seem everyone knows.

My comment was:

Most of you already know, and I've been phoned by quite a few people and emailed by more. It's the worst kept secret, and it's made the last few days a little surreal.

I had wanted Ricky to be the one to post this, and had agreed to wait until today before letting it go public as Ricky needed to let the family know. But I think it's the time to make it public, everyone already knows.

Big Daddy Wayne has left us.

He was discovered Saturday past, by Ricky, after having fallen silent for a number of days. A heart-attack is the suspected cause.

I don't have much to say, too many memories keep coming back, of Wayne arriving at a pub in the middle of nowhere with a big block of cheese, of coffee at his place (which was always good), of sitting with him as he designed the LFGSS logo, of PMs on the old version of the forum perving over good typography and design books.

I wasn't even really close to Wayne, I'm sure the memories a lot of you have are far more personal and revealing, far more meaningful. He was just the best guy, always chipper.

Wayne, you will be missed. You leave a gap larger than your character, I'm glad I got to spend a bit of time with you.

My thoughts to those closest to him.

And yeah... such a great guy, Felicity was really upset hearing this, and all I could think about was how it can't be true... he lives just down the road, and if I popped around surely he'd still be there offering to make a coffee? I remain in disbelief.

I ever met him but even through forum posts his qualities and humour were a consistently funny, enjoyable and on many occasions, a very kind contribution. I'm really sad to hear about this and incredibly sorry for those who had that real world relationship to back up the online one-you must all be in agony just now. Ride In Peace.
