• Advice please peeps

Sauntering to work this morning and rear ended a merc that indicated to take a corner but slammed on brakes way before the junction instead. I realise that I should have left more braking distance but the road seemed to disappear before I rear ended his boot door leaving a big scratch. Upon inspection my front brake cable had separated in the caliper hence why I didn't slow.

Swapped deets with the driver, it's a company car, but the guy is insisting I need to pay.

Legally where do I stand? Should I solicitor up?

Ruined a good commute too, right glute properly smarts and I'm feeling really sorry for myself 2/10

  • ideally you should have insurance to cover these issues. it sounds from your description that it was your error, if so pay up. all a solicitor will do is charge you money and you will still have to pay up.

unless you have recently had your bike serviced and your bike shop fucked your brakes up
