  • I've been commuting with a bianchi pista converted to 650b 40c, but yes maybe 2.1 would be to wide :) but I can always use smaller tyres.

  • Hi, does anyone know about Ofmega BB spindles? I have a 118 and need a 111mm according to Sheldon these are specific to Ofmega. I have tried campy to no avail the taper on the Ofmega is slimmer I was wondering if pre 80,s campy would fit.

  • According to velobase, ofmega cranksets and bb's are meant to be used together due to that specific spindle taper.. They also say that is the same as "Avocet" if that's any help.

    But, are you sure you need 111mm? Seems they made 118mm spindles for double cranksets, then it should be good..

  • Finally cleaned my daily of salt and rust, switched back to risers, drops were too much for my short commutes and made the steering twitchy. Reused the original STX brake levers (dremmeled off the gummed up shifters), upgraded the x5 shifter to a x7, cheap Kalloy risers and grips from Decathlon. Could use a longer stem, but I guess it will involve an adapter and drilling the stem for the brake cable. Need to figure out a chainring guard to keep my trousers clean.

    Have you already got the 45T Alfine guard? I've got a couple in my parts bin.

  • If you can afford it, a tidy Steel mash build would do nicely? 37's, 2 brakes and some risers, short wheelbase, high bb and so on, nice and nippy for short commutes

  • Either settle for 700c and get a new charge plug or if you want 26" you could get a day one disc and swap the wheels out?

    The new plug looks great. Like a mash work bike for the sensible man.

  • Not yet, there is one on local listings for 5 Euro, just haven´t had time to pick it up, thanks for the offer though. It also might be a good excuse to buy a flex machine :)

  • Nope not the Trek, still collecting bits for that build.

    Specialized bits will go on another, near mint, Epic Allez frame.

  • for snow and icy riding in the city I find fixed way better as you can much better control the rear wheel by pedaling slower, when a brake would have just locked up the wheel and slided it away.

  • I saw that in evans the other day, it is heavier than the 105 hydro disc brake geared dolomite! Made me wonder if the tubing was even hollow ..

  • It's 10kg.

    I got it down to 9.5kg with a few change (SRAM levers, saddle, seatpost and pedals).

    Brakes excellent, levers undoubtedly crap.

    Still a great bike with massive clearance.
