  • @Richard1982 sorry about the holes, i thought it was evident from my photographs on the thread and my description what the condition of the wheel would be-thats why i posted them, and it was priced accordingly, some couple hundred odd quid cheaper than the last corima disc sold on here by patrickz, even though it was the same model.

    if youre not happy with the wheel, you can return it obviously-i wouldn't want you to feel you're getting done over.. however i wouldn't feel comfortable doing a partial refund, i would prefer to buy the disc back off you, however i assure you any damage is purely cosmetic, already photographed by me and on my thread, but it does appear some people may have thought you didn't know about it until it arrived? this to me, seems a little unfair.

    regardless of how im feeling, i would very much like to sort this amicably and quickly, and im sure we are both capable of doing so.

    That's because the @ function appears to only catch the first word/uninterrupted string of letters behind it, and not the dot that comes after (which is part of the username). @Velocio to the rescue?

    For example, @b&d doesn't work either.

    However I don't think it's reasonable to refuse a partial refund, there's nothing to feel uncomfortable about. It would be unfortunate if anyone thought you were hoping the buyer didn't want to go to the trouble of returning it and you could then keep all his money.

    The fact that you sold the wheel at less than the market value doesn't excuse you of your responsibility to be candid with potential buyers. Even a buyer familiar with the market value could reasonably infer it was being sold below that, as your thread is titled "FIRE SALE..." and begins "Something has come up that I really want so I'm selling some items to raise funds, selling at good prices as I want them gone...".

    As for your statement that the photographs disclosed the damage, may I draw your attention to this post by Velocio, in particular #2.

  • I would rather get the disc back and return the buyer every last penny, then to give a partial refund and not get the disc back-if the buyer has a problem with the product, he returns it and is refunded-that's what I've grown to expect and I would only treat people how I expect to be treated

  • Equally, I'd expect a seller to explicitly say 'x number of holes x size and crack x cm long' and if you don't want to issue a partial refund, fair enough but are you going to refund the silly shipping cost in addition to the return shipping? You need to recognise that you've created this situation, and I'm sure you'd expect to be treated in this way too if I sold you something with the arse ripped out of it.

  • What you have and have not grown to expect is at odds with the general experience: for example, both eBay and Paypal give the option of a full or partial refund.

    Let's cut to the chase:

    • you deliberately misrepresented the wheel;
    • you charged over the odds for shipping;
    • you added photos to your sales thread in an attempt to conceal the fact that you had not disclosed the damage.

    I don't think you're in a very strong position to be dictating terms to anyone.

  • I'm not "dictating" terms, I would just waiting for @Richard1982 to tell me what he would like to happen right now, and come to a decision with him, because ultimately he is the one I'm going to actually listen to above anybody else right now, as he is the one who needs a situation fixed. If he is unhappy, I would love to rectify the situation by refunding him and I can get the wheel back. Richard, I apologise profusely if you think I've missold you but in all honesty I could take the disc back easily as to me it's certainly ridable for a disc that is around 10 years old and I would still use it

    And yes, I would cover my supposedly ridiculous shipping even though half my time on this earth I happen to live in the middle of nowhere only surrounded by one shop, farmland and motorway and it costs petrol to get to the post office and the lovely elderly woman charged me £6 for bubblewrap

    It's the refusal to consider a partial refund that I think is wrong.

    He's relying on the buyer's inertia (people often sell things on here that are the wrong size etc, because they CBA to return them) to be able to keep all the money and claim that he's put the matter right.

    Of course, it's entirely up to the buyer to make that decision, but he should have the choice and not be backed into a corner.

    Let's not forget who is in the wrong.

  • I know the buyer has been keeping very quiet since I've responded to this thread and isn't replying to me but I really hoped he would have mentioned by now that we had spoken on the phone and I had told him all about the damage, he even said he didn't want it to be "too flash" as a response, as it was his first disc anyway, and he would probably ruin it. Other buyers who had messaged me, got sent pics of the disc. If you wanna show me up in a bad light that's your choice, but more went on than what you thought. He wanted to speak on the phone so I called him, any one else I spoke to, got same as below

  • Hello, sorry I've not responded sooner - I've been out and about most of today. Erm I can't believe this has become a big thing really, I feel acutely embarrassed about it to be honest. I'll keep the wheel as the damage is only minor and it took me flipping ages to get the tub on properly, there's no way that's coming off in a hurry(/ever)! :-P

  • i must say after all this, i feel somewhat obliged to get a partial refund. so let me know how much is reasonable and ill send it over.
