Alignment is fine, I can get it aligned - I was worried that something was contacting the tyre under compression of the suspension.

is that inside shoulder or outside?

Looks like the sidewall of the tyre is shot. New tyre time, I'd say.

Inside shoulder, and yes of course - I'm replacing both rear tyres due to this.

Which is annoying as they've both got decent tread depth/are quite young.

if you're having them replaced then get over to elite in essex, they'll do a laser alignment (camber/caster/toe) within the fitting cost

The chap from Exel wheels turned up today whilst I was at work, whipped the wheels off and took them away for refinishing, he emailed me that photo an hour or so ago as he just noticed, he's going to replace both rears (for a good price).

I'll take the car to get it aligned as soon as the wheels come back.

So when the breakdown service arrived, after an hour and a half, the guy tried to start the car and it fired up first time, running beautifully. He commented on how quiet and smooth the engine was.

He reckons it is the distributor cap. I was equally relieved, amused, and furious.

I was just in Stratford Westfield, horrid place to be stuck! At least you are slowly learning about your car. Breakdown by breakdown. Also, is that a huge dent on the rear wing?
