Good philosophy indeed. I try and adopt the same, can't afford the exotic stuff and scour the selling sites for stuff that catches my eye or has some potential. I think if I had the dollar to just go any buy anything eBay etc has to offer there'd be no fun in that. The fun's in the looking and I still get a buzz from little 'finds'
Another project, now why doesn't that surprise me ;-)

unless something special comes up at right money I don't bother
all of the brands pistas I've seen are pretty much all of the money nowadays, I came across an old Gent who used to ride motorbikes around a track as far as I managed to understand, and he had a rabobank master pista in my size , agreed to sell , then sold on an online auction site , at market determined value, so that's the closest I've come
