also here's Barney Ronay writing about the youth system, lots of interesting chat in the comments as well, which I usually avoid like the plague...

But it's a great stepping stone to bigger clubs such as Sunderland

I read that corndog.it's a bit grim isn't it? There's some other stuff today that was good:wilson and the pep article.

just read the pep article, interesting, I've seen Bayern on BT a bit and they are a class apart, he's made them better/faster, with a bit of tinkering, coaching up, and the odd transfer, and he's tweaked what he does to accommodate the players he has, and created a style which makes the best use of them. If you read that back to back with Wilson's article on Mourinho/Chelsea/Hiddink article, you come to realise that even if he doesn't win the CL with Bayern he's still made them better, which is all a coach/manager can do.
Will be interesting to see where Ancelotti can improve when he takes charge, also how Guardiola will improve whichever club he lands at in the Premier League. -

Don't below the line on the pep article.
"He's a failure"
"Big sam"
Etc and so on -

read the first couple then stopped myself, most of it is tall poppy syndrome, various partisan pissing contests, and general aren't I funny attempts...
Like Guardiola, and hope he comes to the Premier League, hope the chase to keep pace with the team he creates, raises the bar for managers/coaches, so all the teams have to get better coached.
Personally I'd like him to go to a team where he has to coach them up, without resorting to chequebook team building, and that he digs in for a sustained stay. But he'll probably end up at Man City, and bail out after three or four years.

I hope he goes somewhere other than big 4.
Like united. -

This whole flirting with Pep thing is a bit sad. He's a bit like the local slapper in the pub who all the married blokes are trying to take outside for a quick bunk up in the car park.
Very unsavoury -

Can someone move this thread along because I'm really struggling not to do a your mum joke.
-
• #123362
dude if you didn't have Klopp you'd be gagging for him.
Even if you do have Klopp, if you run true to form, and he does badly (though not that badly) next season or the season after, you'll be calling for him to get the boot and to get someone/anyone better in! And Guardiola's name will be on the tip of your tongue... -

Burnley have just signed this lad http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/dec/17/george-green-ossett-everton-oldham-tranmere Will be interesting to see whether he starts to develop again.

Amazing...

• #123366
I remember when we signed him and everyone was getting fizzy cocks.
Just seemed like another big time Charlie who didn't knuckle down...I remember everyone on the forums asking about his progress but no-one could give any feedback as he never even really played for the reserves -
• #123367
Francis Jeffers all over again?
-
• #123368
Dyche seems to be a fairly grounded manager so could be good for him. We're crap at bringing players through from the development squad to the first team though so I'd be surprised if he ever fulfilled any early potential.
-
• #123369
Way off Jeffers, he actually played and scored...albeit briefly

think this came up on Football Weekly, but Palace are chasing a striker, adebayor's name comes up alot, but they had one in Glenn Murray, who they let go to Bournemouth, wouldn't they have been better off just keeping Murray, rather than the possibility of injuries, bad form in your remaining strikers meaning that signing adebayor for 6mths is an attractive proposition..
-
• #123373
Sign Adebayor for £1k a month, let Spurs continue to pay the other £99k
???
Profit -

The undoing of Klopp/liverpool will be the ongoing lack of structure and systematic thinking. I questioned on here what was the point of adding Benteke to what was the lowest crossing team in the league at the time. Fast forward to now...
I feel for the lad but he is just one of a fuckton of players bought, that look good in the two league games against us and we decide to shoehorn them into the set up with ZERO plan for how it will work. What is the clubs preferred way of play? Anyone??We've got Ian ive-got-a-harley Ayre fuckin about in eastern europe...again potentially low ballin. We'll be undoubtedly get gazumped...again and resort to signing Shane Long. Wouldn't even mind him, IF, it is part of a coherent line of thought.
Which part of moneyballz means Markovic (who could become a handy player) is worth forking out for £25M for but Dele Ally isn't worth £6M?!
Moronic stuff.

we brought out his contract I believe, he's a free agent, you pay all of his wages, you get all of the headaches...
Don't want to replace one tall striker who doesn't score enough and has an attitude problem with another...
