is there a "forum gold" thread?
a repository for threads that are worth revisiting, the manners thread has been dredged to great effect recently, scoble's battle of the rando and baby blue fixie are others -

Where can I buy titanium dropouts in the uk?
Paragon machine works look great but shipping from the states would cost as much as the dropouts themselves.

Has anyone travelled with a bike box on qatar airways? Do they treat their sports equipment classification differently? Their sports luggage rates are crazy!
Edit: and to follow on - I know this has been asked a lot, but if I'm travelling from Australia to Europe, what's the best (largest luggage allowance perhaps?) airline to go with?

Does anyone know if there are still Crossrail works on Liverpool St preventing access to Eldon St from Liverpool St Station?
Most recent streetview shows a big road block, dated Sep 2012 which isn't too helpful!

Nothing that says 'Evo' unless you have wide rims. Evo = thinner pads. My fav between BXP (blue) and Green is BXP. Green is slightly softer.
Koolstop salmon are very soft and dont last as long as swisstop but also good.

Salmon helped performance of my ancient cantis. [edit wet weather braking mostly as that was a touch interesting]
I have the salmon/black ones that work as well as just salmon and last a little longer.
[edit salmon is softer so it wears rim a little more too but if braking is a bit caca they do work well]

Softer pads wear the rim less than hard pads.

Really? Not everybody's experience with koolstops. But perhaps they gather grit would of course does mess your rims up.

Braking is currently kaka. Bike has 105 groupset but brakes are just branded Shimano with the shit 1 piece pads which I think are causing the issue. Going to get the cheap Clarks 2 piece pads, keep the pad holder, ditch the pads, and buy some inserts. Probably go for Kool Stop Salmon because they're less than half the price, and I'm sure they won't last less than half the time.

Eldon St
access by bike? if so then it's fine, you can go down the stairs past the richard serra. By car, then yes it's still blocked, but I think you can still get down old broad st. looks pretty similar to current google street view

On foot , so it should be fine, thanks!

My fav between BXP (blue) and Green is BXP. Green is slightly softer.
Other way round Green are harder wearing, last a very long time but accelerated wear on your rims, not recommended if you have those thin walled rims.
Blue perform better especially in wet, it sit between the Koolstop Salmon and Swissstop Green.

My main motivation for using Salmon is being able to extend my wheel lifespan, despite needing to replace them more regularly.
Most especially on proprietary road wheels.
Cheers! Not seen that toll calculator before.
