  • Not a fan of that fork on this frame at all and yeah, Talbot logo looks a bit out of place imo. Nice colour, mind.

  • For even more train theme put these wheels on it:

    :)

  • :)

I was joking last night with a mate about putting her brand new FFWD 4 spokes on it!

@JB I love the beefy fork on it personally, it's worked out just how I'd hoped.

I think the size and placement of the Talbot badge works too. It's just on the one leg (the front light will be perched on one leg too) and there's no headbadge, so I reckon it shows a nice clear separation from the Eastway and the Talbot bits.

The asymmetry & paint also makes the bike look Industrial and practical, to my mind, which again was what I wanted and has turned out better than I had hoped.

I full appricate it's each to there own though :)

I'm really looking forward to seeing it built up. My worry now is that the old Apex group lets it down (esp the cranks) and carries on the practical/industrial theme.

I just have to remember it's primarily an everyday workhorse.........mainly :)

  • Yeah. Of course each to their own. So long as you like it... :-)

Any word on how those forks actually ride? Look stiff as a mother.

  • This built up yet?

  • Not yet. Prob be done early next week.

No rush as I've been off the bike resting me knee.

  • It's starting to come together very very nicely.

Loads of tweaks and the lights to go on yet though.

    Appalling photo too....

  • @skinny you and me must have a Hed Ardennes dynamo ride to the pub.

  • Sounds like a fantastic specialist interest pub group that does.

It's a date, I'll get the Mr Porkys in

  • Only the best huh. Hed rims are brilliant.

  • Are you thinking or re-covering your saddle?

  • definitely, but come on, it has to be period correct.

  • I love how you've built this man, great work!

  • Agreed much nicer, what was I thinking?
You could freshen it up with some boot mud and fag ash for authenticity.

  • perfect, add a splash of Bovril and I reckon we've nailed it.

When Matt lends me his trailer I could stick a 6 pack and a couple of chocolate eclairs in there and it can be the buffet car.

@vp1337 cheers, although I cant really claim any credit for the building of it. I had a ropey idea but @coldharbour is the one making a silk purse out of it.

  • Haaaa. It is crying out for a bit of chewing gum stuck under the saddle or something..

  • The magic box has arrived from Germany and the Supernova lights are going on.

    Hopefully picking up this evening!

  • The bike is now complete and on the roads:

  • That's in Barmouth! Geek fact!!

  • As @Dammit says, I rode the beast home (via the pub) tonight

I'm very happy, Matt ans Tom have worked their socks off on it, it's been far from simple and it's bloody great.

Photos to follow when I take them, prob next week

  • What's the deal with the badge on the brooks?

  • It's for the light bracket. Here you go, poor post pub phone photos though :)

  • More pics! Proper ones! All these teasers and ill lit ones are driving me nuts. I want to want the bike even more.

  • Sorry, I know. I've even smashed the lense on my camera phone so it's a bit fuzzy.

I will try and take some bad ones today and then next week, when I'm back in town, I'll take some 'proper' ones.
