It's such jokes. You would notice the taste of it in a bottle and you'd have to crush up a pill pretty finely to get it to dissolve quick enough with no taste! Also hilarious to have your bottle spiked by something that you would definitely want to use in a long distance cycling event. Not a virtually tasteless stimulant like ephedrine, or some oral steroid you can find in a gym (and need trace doses of), but Modafinil.
I remember seeing that Manchester 50 thread getting pulled when people were having a go at each other about Chris Ledger's finishing time.
It all sounds like someone was annoyed at getting busted and banned for 4 years and wants to take down someone else who they had beef with in the process.

And now he's starting posting on the TT forum about it ...

I'm doing the Ely Hardriders on 14th Feb. Early enough? Trying to work out a balance between aero and avoiding frostbite.
P.S. Ho ho ho, v. droll etc.

It's a hardriders.
Just go naked. -

Well, it is on Valentine's Day, and what could be more romantic than that?

Leather or PVC gimp suit, that's the question.

Ok, just spotted the easiest club record yet... 15mi
We don't have a recorded time for men for that distance :) -

Erm, anyone know which of these is correct?

Second one AFAIK

Hmm, that's odd because the strava and bikely segments seem to show the other one. I'd assumed the more recent one would more likely appear in stuff like strava. le sigh. why they no issue new code?

One for Tester perhaps, he's been riding Drift Road since the 1950s. But the second one is the course they used last March.

cough @mdcc_tester

Second one is the current version, it's actually 15 miles whereas the old one was only 14.3
If I'd had my way, the event would have been changed to a safer 17.5mile variant, but Peter Bell insisted on a true 15 mile event, possibly because some clubs have really soft 15 mile TT records, so making it a 15 might encourage entries.

• #11666
Looks like he might have been right!
-
• #11667
Can't get much softer than not having a record. :)
What's wrong with the course that would make it unsafe (or less safe than your variant)?

The left turn at Maidens Green second time around is both confusing to marshal and tricky to negotiate safely with your race head on.

Cock's Lane, maybe should be Cockup's Lane?
I might go and have a look at the course tomorrow.

Makes a change to "steed".
Not necessarily for the better.
Only for the chilly early season events
