That sounds about right. Depending on where you are the council will come and do one lot of takeaway as long as sealed and double bagged for not much money. (We currently have a shitload waiting to go in the corner of the garden.) The cost is getting it out of the house - the specialists are eye-wateringly expensive and (sweeping generalisation) mostly come across like right cowboys. Not something you want to scrimp money on though I suppose.
If it's low risk, you can just paint over it - as long as not disturbed (eg behind rads / roofing panels) it's not a problem. (Don't drill into it) We've lived with ours (mostly low risk) for 3 years and aren't dead yet. Now the builders have taken it out and we made sure we were away when they were doing the worst of it.
I have got the full white hooded suit + mask+ goggles + latex gloves + work gloves to do the bagging / tidying up. Hot as fuck. -

Anyone here in Hither Green? Looks like there's a few 3 bed properties in my price range. What's it like?

I'm in catford but frequently head up the hill to hither green station as the trains are more frequent. New retro coffee shop, so those houses may not stay affordable for long...
@blowfish @ChainBreaker may be able to help

We lived in Hither Green.
Meh...There is one big pub which is ok-ish, and Jay at the bike shop on Lee High Road is an awesome mechanic, but apart from that...
Oh!
The Costcutter, strangely, has a really good range of world beers. -

Bishops Way is located near to the charming boutiques, cafés, restaurants and bars of Victoria Park Village and Bethnal Green, whilst the fashionable bars and restaurants of Shoreditch, Hoxton and Broadway Market are also easily accessible.

I lived there for three years and loved it.
Nice selection of local shops. Pub is pretty good and parks are nice. Very close to blackheath / greenwich as well.
Would definitely recommend.

Any recommendations for an electrician in North London? My lights have started flickering and appliances turning on and off which I'm pretty sure is a bad thing.
Electrics are fairly dated, consumer unit has plug-in MCBs so a rewire was probably on the cards at some point but it has obviously become a bit more of an issue now.
