Anything that should keep me away from getting one of Planet X's Tomac/Viner/etc. with full carbon frameset(yes i know they're just AsianSensations), bolt thru, Rival X1, decent wheels for 1500£?
Still very intrigued by the Crux E5 X1 #becausepretty

I thought about getting one of these but the frame would be a worry, they look great though, but for me, you'd need to spend more on a bike to get proper carbon... the Cruz would be a good bet.

That's why I got the Raleigh. If I really wanted to shave a kilo from the weight on my bike I could do this by avoiding things like this big bar of chocolate on my desk.
Or the crisps.
To late to avoid the doughnuts.

Wouldn't bother with a carbon CX race bike - unless you are paid to ride it.
-
• #3656
Exactly!

• #3657
Not going to race that much, more of an off road trainer and adventurer for gravel riding, light single track etc.

Dalsland Runt med de to tykke med skæg?

Maaaybe. Men det er vist udsolgt?

Then have a hard look at the Raleigh, it's s versatile frame with mounting points for guards.
-
• #3661
A couple of mates have them and have crashed them . A very versatile bike.

I was seriously considering that Raleigh. Then I saw some absolute melt racing one whilst wearing a Liz Hurley skin suit. Put me right off.
-
• #3663
That melt finished the race didn't he?

Hugs and kisses as always Liz. xxxxx

Anyone re-cabled (inners) their Giant TCX SLR ? Bit daunted by internal cable routing as I've not done it before. Are there cable guides inside the frame ? My Google powers didn't come up with anything
-
• #3667
No cable guides inside. Simplest way is to first take out the inners, then replace the inners with new ones, then remove outers, then replace outers with new ones.

I know it was over £1000 but I put a deposit down on one of these at the weekend... little bit excited about getting it!

Yes, this:
Additional Payments
An admin fee of 10% applies with cyclescheme.co.uk, On Your Bike and Bike2work vouchers, as well as Salary Extras. A 12% fee applies with Cycle Plus vouchers and a 12.5% fee applies with the NHS SME HCI scheme.
Edit: Just realised you aren't going for the cycle to work scheme (Thought it was because of the thread title!)My mate has just got one, loves it and every other bike he has is a Scott. Great value, just keep on them to send it out as they are a bit lethargic at times!

He is not in the UK.

Why do manufacturers insist on fitting a 50/34 chainset to a cross bike?
-
• #3673
My guess is that most novice Cx riders will probably only have 1 bike and will therefore spent much more time on Tarmac
-
• #3674
My guess is that they are cheaper than a 46/36.
-
• #3675
and not all cranksets have a 46/36 in their product range like shimano 105
