I do have carbon forks, because for me the benefits out weight the risk and I reason that 1) they are probably fairly thick, 2) they have a wheel axel at the bottom and a headtube at the top which possibly incorrectly I think gives extra strength by reducing weak spots.
I would also probably be happy with carbon mtb bars as well, 1) because they're designed for mtb, and 2) because I don't think a straight bar will get knocked about as much as drops or bulls on a bike rack.
