Having not left London I can't really contribute to this thread but @johnnettles2 you have changed your tune a bit since a year and a bit ago when you were going on about how great rural life is!

I have a palpable feeling that's a complete reverse of that ... the point where I breath a sigh of relief to get back to town away from the small-town boring places and their starey simpleton racists.
London has a better standard of racist than the sticks. Many racists in London have been to posh schools and have degrees.

Never again. Went to Uni there, stayed on and spent 7 years before leaving (to 'Ull of all places).
Plenty of friends there so I visit regularly but I'd prefer a LS postcode to a BD one. Problem is that Bradford hasn't changed since I was there 15 years ago...
