I have a palpable feeling that's a complete reverse of that ... the point where I breath a sigh of relief to get back to town away from the small-town boring places and their starey simpleton racists.
London has a better standard of racist than the sticks. Many racists in London have been to posh schools and have degrees.

On the Euston line it's about Wembley Park. To me, it's a career from growing up in a small town, lots of time in London as a kid, and wanting to live in London from the age of 14. Took me ten years to settle properly here, I've spent 20 years feeling truly like this is home.
I do miss fresh air mind. London stinks.
