A mouse in the house

  • Hehe!

  • It was a colleague's posh muesli. I'm more of a toast with dripping man. I was going to say, 'toast with dripping cunt' but thought better of it.

  • Came here because of the meme thread.

    P.s. never.EVER. use poison.

Unless you want spend weeks dealing with endless amounts of flies spawning from the festering corpse of a rat stuck behind your wall.

    Always a decent snappy trap.

  • That ain't no mouse!

  • Oh yeah, sorry brought back...
    ...memories...

I caught a mouse once in a bucket, I wanted to look at it because it was cute. It jumped out and escaped. I concluded that it earned it's freedom.

Still go for the snappy trap

  • I'd still shoot the fucker.

  • "Where did that bluebottle come from? It's the middle of winter!?!"

Two days later cue massive stupid-infant-bluebottle infestation... Disgusting...

  • Years ago, I agreed to let a temporary bedsit in Camden. Turned up to get the keys and sign the lease, and as soon as we opened the door, the air was thick with swarms of flies, like something out of a horror movie. Walked away, obvs, but never considered there were probably rat carcasses rotting away in there. Lucky fucking escape.

  • It could have "just" been cluster flies.

  • I was clearing some shelves in the living room of a house share I'd lived in. I opened a plastic bag to a swarm of flies exploding out of it. Turns out a previous flatmate from fucking ages ago had left some food up there rotting and none of the other 3 people living in the house did anything about it. He also left loads of teabags on there that mice had happily nested in.

  • Always open the letterbox if the door has one. Have a sniff, if you don't like what you smell don't open the door. Pitch black with no lights, stench, flies and a sticky floor is never a good thing.

  • Pitch black with no lights, stench, flies and a sticky floor is never a good thing.

Won't bother going home tonight then.

  • Sounds like any one of the many pubs that hosted West beers over the years.

  • I dealt with the mouse, not in the best way. It appears now that we have rats in the ceiling. Much noisier than mice, they make a loud scrabbling sound at dusk. I've bought an endoscope to spy on them but I know they are there because when I change the LED downlighter in the ceiling droppings fall onto my face. I saw the film Sicario recently and it has given me a sense of how I am going to deal with them.

  • Definitely not squirrels?

  • Also, this thread has a lot of lols in it.

  • If you had kept the mice you would not have rats.

Rat poison and hope they don't die in the ceiling.

  • Not enough trees nearby. A shame, as I hear you can eat squirrels.

  • Maybe they are mice. They just seem a bit loud for that, and they never come into the house now.

  • Red or grey?

  • I have no idea. The endoscope will speak.

  • Don't be tempted by rat poison. Next door had a rat problem and got pest control in who dutifully laid poison around their kitchen. A few days later we were greeted by the most awful sulphurous stench. The unloved creature must have crawled away to die in a hidden away spot, which was evidently under our newly laid floor. The stench lasted a good 2 weeks, and we still get the occasional whiff. The only squirrel connection I can think of is the mission impossible task of catching the thing. Good luck.

  • Snap traps and peanut butter/nutella usually work a treat from past experience.

I have one solitary smart mouse who sometimes says hello at about 2115 every night. I have seen it walk around the trap (irrespective of the bait) a number of times.

It has however taken the odd bit of cheese (comte) when I have tried to establish a 'habit' or 'hot spot' where I later place a trap. Of course he then ignores the area once the trap is set.

  • Has it got a light at the end?
