I've totally changed my mind on The Revenant - when the trailer came out I was a bit 'meh' but saw it last night and thought it was great. Especially considering how the production and direction had so many challenges - only natural light (bar one scene), shooting chronologically, scene actions being mostly improvised, and Leo having to eat a bison liver despite being vegetarian, hardcore. Visually it's stunning, but I'm a sucker for incredibly long shots of landscapes and trees.
Maybe it was a touch too long, definitely felt one too many 'go to sleep, wake up' scenes but aside from that, 5/7.
