  • Been riding this rourke frame/fork with beater parts for a while now and have been wanting to get inspired.

The paint is pretty rad up close but looks like a gross brown in photos, I don't think I have plans to remove it any time soon… It hides the dents well too haha!

I really need some good insight (maybe from other lopro build wizards) about what usually goes into building a track correct lopro. Where to find parts for it would be a huge help as well, I'm also located in the U.S. and quality track parts are hard to find… Advice all around is appreciated, geometry, crank length, etc… Drop some knowledge on me!

    Thanks LFGSS!

  • Also wondering what the name of this style BB is?

  • Square taper, sealed cartridge BB

  • paint is so rad.

  • I like the paint even a year later, besides a new top coat. What are some pro tips for complementing a paint job like this since I'm practically building this thing up from the ground again?

This is how she was looking before I stripped her down.

  • Thanks for the positive feedback! In the process of trying to talk a guy into selling me his rear HED tri spoke wheel. Would love to try a rear disc though!!

  • I seem to already be hitting roadblocks, The BB axle says 103 on it... And when I went to put on some 165' shimano 600 cranks, the crank arm bolts holding the sprocket are rubbing the the bottom chain stay… Super minimal clearance, I have a newer set of Shimano 600 that work fine but they are 172.5… Are there anyways around this besides getting a new wider BB?

  • Shimano 600 tricolor are road cranks, meant for 113mm BB (english). Older 600 require 116mm spindle... So do the math. Just get a new BB and run the chainring on the inner side. Or get propper track cranks. Cool frame like this deserves it!

Dude thanks for the knowledge. I love learning things like this, thank you! Whats that old saying, ''teach a man to fish..''??!

Anyway, I was going to post pictures. But I have some Mint condition SunTour Superbe Pro track hubs laced to Italian tubular rims, these hubs/wheel as wholes are awesome… Thinking about lacing the superbe hubs to mavic clinchers to put on my pursuit. I also have the full SunTour Superbe 165mm cranks/sprocket I kind of want to put on my pursuit as well.

Thoughts? All these SunTour parts are coming off a custom built track bike I found, locally constructed. But our 'track' is kind of lame so I hardly ever ride it especially with the tubular tires : /

  • You live in Seattle.

  • Is this a question or statement my friend? That I do.

  • seen you lock this up outside my shop. Really neat. Was it a road lopro that someone welded Steamroller dropouts onto?

  • Oh no kidding? Wouldn't think to find someone from Seattle on a London forum haha! What shop was it?

…I wish I knew the details from the original owner, long ago... I believe this was a custom made Rourke made with steamroller drops originally. But there are some interesting internal cable housing tracks in the top tube and chain stay that might say otherwise?

  • It might have always had track ends. The drive side track end might have once held a mech-hanger - you should be able to spot if it looks like someone has sheared it off.
That being said, the BB looks quite low so I'd think it most probably is a conversion. Anyway, the paint is cool. I'd be tempted to put a White Turbo saddle on there, though I'm not sure why - just seems like it'd suit it.
