The timing of those posts made me do a LOL.
You do have a point to be fair, it's just that after two painful and expensive offs in Kent last winter I'm really paranoid now.
Also, I tend to find Essex is less treacherous in this weather; the roads are quite open and exposed compared to the more wooded and shady lanes of kent - which is where black ice thrives!
I do think today would have been pretty dodgy though - my strava feeds has lots of 'icy ride' type comments. I ended up going to RP for the second day in a row and was bored as fuck.

Yeah, that's the problem isn't, be super careful but risk missing out on nice rides and good training miles, or not be careful enough and potentially be off the bike for weeks.
Don't get me wrong, I have zero desire to fall off too, I've only just finished physio on the elbow I broke in August 2014 and I do not want to go through that palava again!
And yes, yesterday not a good day, Saturday with the sun and being drier was much better. At least you did some miles, I magically got better on Sunday evening ready for work today :/
^ N.b. I wrote all that before I saw @upstart had posted!
Do you want to name and shame the lane in question?
