This is crank-chat where Ultra Torque is a still a class leader.
Anyway, shouldn't you be practising left-hooking cyclists?

so, I've found thule touring panniers for a price close to ortlieb back roller plus.
I like the look of them - especially the yellow is very expedition like.
But a bit put off by the weight.
The attachment system looks a bit finicky too. Anyone got experience with them? Any reason to choose one over the other?
Will be used mostly daily for commuting and shopping so compression straps are a big plus. -

Just check it up, if it cost as much as an Ortlieb, I'd just go for the latter.
Tried and tested model, with a decent (and teplaceable) attachment system is great.

Why did I only just find out download/cnet are now malware/adware riddled downloads?
Whyyyyy?Woke up to Yahoo search bar with a dodgy url link in firefox startup. Much effort to remove all that shitware, even on a Mac.

Tektro r359 or shimano r451?
I like look of tektro more but some ppl says bolts / springs rust much faster.
-
• #73488
Spray liberally with 3 in 1 that'll stop them rusting. It might stop them stopping too.

Plenty of people swear by Boeshield T9 . Strictly speaking, the #tester_approved method of avoiding corrosion is never to go outside when it's wet :-)

I've got an hex key skewer on my track wheel and if I tighten it a lot then it starts to restrict the wheel turning. Is that normal, or indicative of a problem?
-

It's indicative of too little bearing clearance. When the skewer is under tension, the axle is under compression. It squashes enough to move the bearing clearance from OK to binding if there's not enough clearance before you tension the skewer.

I can just about follow that, but I'm not sure what I need to do.

I'm not sure what I need to do
If it's cup and cone bearings, loosen them off a bit. If it's a cartridge bearing hub with clearance/preload adjusters, loosen them off a bit.
Not quite true, but close enough. Even my custom Ti one didn't save any weight compared with the stock aluminium one.
@Dandy is your axle thread M9×1? If so, you can just swap it for a bog standard Shimano hollow axle (Sora will do) and run an M6 tap into the ends to do the bolt-on conversion, that's probably the most aero but the Hed aluminium axle with a Ti Allen-key skewer is lighter.
