Managed to get them new for under £100 from ebay. Which seems pretty good for the Loake’s premium line.
Probably not something I’m going to fall madly in love with, but they seem to work well enough with suit trousers – although anoyingly they sit slightly better with jeans as they don’t affct the break as much. I guess time will tell.
Laces the whole way might be a bit of a pain and I need to decide what pattern to go for... similar to the picture to keep them formal looking I think. Also still deciding whether to leave the finish as is, or mirror shine the toe and heal. Thoughts?
Quite supprised with the sizing. I’d read online they come up large, but I am still pretty suprised how large they feel given that I have wide feet. I predict a tough breaking in period. Pretty pleased to have found something at a reasonable price though, especially with the forcasts of more shit weather.
I have been trying to rebuild my work wardrobe after a now very long period of neglect. I think shoes are covered:
Bad weather: Black Loake Derby boot (Dainite soled)
Every day: x2 Black Loake oxfords (x1 with rubber covers, x1 leather)
Summer / non-black: Dark brown Crockett and Jones oxfords and Ox blood Grenson half brogues
The search for winter work boots has ended!
