  • Church's will do it for £120, takes 5-6 weeks. Haven't got round to calling anyone else yet, but will do...

  • Dickie's Nebraska boots. Are they any good?

  • The Trickers leather soles take a while to soften up but are very comfy after a few months of wear. The are more comfy to walk in than the Dainite sole which although hard wearing isn't especially grippy . The commando sole wears out quite quickly and drags mud in everywhere. The heal on the leather soles doesn't last too long either. All have pros and cons.

  • Cheers mate

  • Thanks for the recommendation, I'm London however.

  • Sale on at the moment. Unfortunate name for a company, but good shoes and quick service. When I last used them I got free wooden shoe trees.

  • The search for winter work boots has ended!

    Loake Hyde, black.

Managed to get them new for under £100 from ebay. Which seems pretty good for the Loake’s premium line.

Probably not something I’m going to fall madly in love with, but they seem to work well enough with suit trousers – although anoyingly they sit slightly better with jeans as they don’t affct the break as much. I guess time will tell.

Laces the whole way might be a bit of a pain and I need to decide what pattern to go for... similar to the picture to keep them formal looking I think. Also still deciding whether to leave the finish as is, or mirror shine the toe and heal. Thoughts?

Quite supprised with the sizing. I’d read online they come up large, but I am still pretty suprised how large they feel given that I have wide feet. I predict a tough breaking in period. Pretty pleased to have found something at a reasonable price though, especially with the forcasts of more shit weather.

I have been trying to rebuild my work wardrobe after a now very long period of neglect. I think shoes are covered:

Bad weather: Black Loake Derby boot (Dainite soled)

Every day: x2 Black Loake oxfords (x1 with rubber covers, x1 leather)

Summer / non-black: Dark brown Crockett and Jones oxfords and Ox blood Grenson half brogues

  • Ooh... tempted by some 8 hole DMs.

  • I'm in the middle of debating Sanders Newmarket or Newbury.
I have a much loved pair of the cheaper ones which have lasted about five years, but are just beyond the point of economic repair. I can't really see a difference between them, but apparently its mostly down to the grade of leather.

  • Aren't the pricier ones also full leather lined?

Personally I prefer the shinny contrast of the buckle on the Newmarket. I guess you've got to see them in the flesh.

  • Sorry, I thought I'd put that. 180 euro

  • Also Our Legacy sample sale in the Truman brewery - lots of there old stock made in england shoes and boots for £90. Like these:

  • Wish I was in London. :(
seen anything in a size 7?

  • ^those - they had mountains of shoes and clothes, mainly from 4/5/6 years ago when they were made in England

  • Damn!

  • Cool

  • Anybody going?
Care to pick up a pair and post on to me in copenhagen?
I'll buy you a pint and try to return the favour.

  • Post 'em back when they're the wrong size?

  • I'll post my feet to you then.

  • They're lovely. I'd like a pair of those, 8.5UK, please.

Will pay back with added beer monies.

  • Cheers, any particular brands?

  • The ones, I use are Tacco, but I don't know if they are available in UK.

  • Our Legacy shoes made by Sanders by the way...
