If my trusty citizen ray mears ever stops receiving solar power then that's what I'm gonna go for.

I should've bought your old one, dammit!

That's nice.
I bought a Seiko solar though and it loses time like a motherfucker in winter because it sees so little daylight. Which is why I eventually bought an automatic. The Seiko is great in summer though.

The ray mears doesn't necessarily need daylight, you can charge it indoors under a light.
I never actually take it off and charge it though, daily wear seems to be enough even in winter. They come up on ebay fairly regularly man, don't give up! @>>>>>>

That doesn't sound right. I have a Seiko solar that doesn't see daylight for weeks at a time and is still accurate.

^ Same here.

this
Mine was in storage for many months but the moment I took it out of the absolute darkness of the box within a box within a crate, it reacted like a "28 weeks later" zombie rising from death.
Within minutes it was spot on with the time.

Damn soulless, practical, efficient, accurate, inexpensive quartz / solar watches. Coming over here to embarrass our mechanicals.....

I never deleted my ebay alerts so I see them come up now and then , they're like buses though, there'll be nothing for weeks then two will come up in quick succession.

Hmm. I should send it back to Seiko by the sound of it. Thanks all.

Not normally a fan of customisation, but I love this a lot.

@umop3pisdn - what’s the strap on yours? I’ve got the blue version with the standard webbing but I’d much prefer something like that. Great timekeeper :)

Pleased.

My new old Vostok Amphibian turned up today. It came on a metal band but I've put it on a perlon strap for now. Not sure if I like the watch face or not, think I'd prefer a darker face...

I like it....
... Probably means it's shit

Ha! I've noticed our 'tastes' have a bit of crossover. I saw this on ebay and liked it, but I think now I've got it the face is a bit brown and dated looking. If it were blue or black I think I'd like it more. Or maybe not.
It's supposed to be water resistant to 200m. In a typically Russian way it uses a big sintered gasket and the pressure of the water seals the caseback against the gasket and pushes the acrylic crystal in .5mm.
I bought another Vostok recently as well, a Komandirskie. Both of these watches need 18mm straps, which look a bit skinny on it. Any strap suggestions?

you obviously have good taste then!
Sorry late reply. Got a small wrist but like Stonehedge said it doesn't wear big or look too big!
