When I got my 205 1.9 GTi aged 20 I was aware of this reputation, but figured it couldn't possibly be as bad as people said so went barrelling into a roundabout, done a big lift and ended up sitting on the grass in the middle of the roundabout. Fun it was.
I did the same, except in a 306 - I was used to the lift off effect as I had driven my older 306 on a few track days etc. and explored the gallic handling.
Skip to a test drive of a newer GTi6 that was in a dealership for months - went for a drive, hard round a corner - shit these tyres are rock hard - shit - massive understeer, no probs, a little lift will sort that - shit shit shit TANK SLAPPER, manage to correct (after over correcting) and nearly into a power pole. Was not fun.
Still bought the car.

I've always fancied a 106 Rallye. I'm sure I remember the 1.3 being the one to have over the 1.6 but I can't remember why.
