Don't bother with eVent, get something goretex. The gore jackets are good for the money.

eVent needs more maintenance than goretex. Plus it's normally more expensive.
For cycling, goretex are making some really nice fabrics right now. Active is an example.

I've got an eVent rain jacket, it works just fine though.
(it's one of those personal things) Both will get the job done well.
