Good question. Mother is a knitter and has a fine machine. Probs go down that route. She is a northerner though.

Oh dear. I work in Switzerland. That would explain it then.

Need some warmer bibtights. The rapha ones any good? Durable?

Don't bother with eVent, get something goretex. The gore jackets are good for the money.
-
• #24308
Why do you say that?
-
• #24309
eVent needs more maintenance than goretex. Plus it's normally more expensive.
For cycling, goretex are making some really nice fabrics right now. Active is an example.I've got an eVent rain jacket, it works just fine though.
(it's one of those personal things) Both will get the job done well. -

Slightly off point but I always thought Assos were made in Switzerland but I'm sure the last bit I bought was designed in Switzerland but made in Slovakia or similar.

Svelte clothing is made in London if it's a deal breaker
-
• #24312
Can you imagine the costs if it was made in Switzerland? Swiss labour costs aren't cheap.
-
• #24313
Nothing in Switzerland is cheap.
Banking there is particularly ridiculous.

Train fares were excellent value for money when I was there (although that was nearly 20 years ago now).
That was it though.
-
• #24315
Even chocolate was pricey when I was last there.
I was halfway up a mountain though.

Switzerland, nice but..... The 'minimum' (no official minimum) wage is around £15 an hour, so you can see why everything else is more expensive!
-
• #24320
Cars are cheap in Switzerland.

My Rapha merino has been laced by convicted tax dodgers in Swiss prisons.
-
• #24322
Haha. Like the Swiss jail tax dodgers!
-
• #24323
I thought that was the reason it was so expensive. I guess in reality it's fairly 'cheap'.

The Winter gloves are reduced from £85 to £50 in the sale. I really suffer with cold fingers, does anyone have these and can give me thoughts / reviews? I have some really good merino liners i could wear under them too for the warmth factor
Not sure if i'm willing to go up to £80 for the deep winter gloves however

to be honest I think you are better getting off lobster type gloves if you suffer a lot, as they seem to work better.
Could work. The Swiss have a pretty strong xenophobic tendency, which might appeal too.
