When I was getting my leg done it was was all totally fine, until the tattooist hit the little nubbin of cartilage just below and on the outside of the knee, then my leg was twitching all over the place

stupidly got both feet done in the same day years ago. pain was alright but the tendons constantly twitching was crap!
i'd like to get the other side of my ribs done but the memory of the pain hasn't receded from getting the first side. the hip bone and ribs were bad but i remember the waist in between them being the worst, all those squishy internal organs buzzing away. UGH. i don't know how people get their backs done, too far for me.

Just been looking at tattoo healing etc and found some people use Tegaderm to wrap their tattoos from day 2 or so for a few days. Anyone has expereince with it?
I have used it for medical purpose and it's great but it's basically a thin waterproof ish sticky film, so wouldn't it pull out the scab / new skin / soft skin, whatever you want to call it from the tattooed area?

Tegaderm is what @sashayaway has been using to cover her more recent tattoos with and it seems to work very well. It can be useful to have an extra pair of hands to get it on nicely and trim but once on it stays put (I think we taped the edges to be certain) and wasn't tricky to remove at all, not did it pull the skin underneath. It's not sticky as such but much more like a better cling film (I'm not doing it justice there.)

as long as the healing process stays wet, there will not be scab.

Last few tattoos I've had they used a thing called Dermalize which is slightly thicker than Tegaderm. Worked really well.

had some large-ish work on my ribs last summer, if you prepare well as others have said then it shouldn't be an ordeal. Also, prepare for the day after, maybe by pre-preparing food or something, i just didn't want to get out of bed and having to walk up and down stairs to get food was a proper pain in the arse.

So you leave it on for a couple of days without chaning / washing you tattoos? Am tempted to give it a go, or tegaderm... should have kept the ones I had from perscriptions... damn!

You could have been my night nurse!
Decided not to go in the end.... would have just been way too expensive. He's coming to London after the convention now, so am getting it done over here on the 17th instead.

Who are the great London tattoo artists right now?
Looking to book an appointment for a large upper back thing.

Depends what you want really.

explain style and what piece you're looking for and most here can point you in the right direction..

There's two that we're getting.
For me it's going to be sharp geometric in black only, more solids than line work but with fine tips on some of the shapes. Think of the ones that @Object has on his arms. But covering 6 inch height across the top of the back.
For Felicity, she's currently thinking line work and portrait, but in an abstract and de-constructed form. Think slightly Escher, or exploded diagrams of machinery... again mostly blacks. Her piece will be smaller.
So we're probably both able to use the same artist. My one is bolder and simpler, hers is more detailed... but the styles aren't so dissimilar.

Off the top of my head, Matt Black maybe
http://goodtimestattoo.co.uk/artist/matt-black/I'm sure there's tonnes of artists capable, check out Into You Tattoo, Good Times, Kids Love Ink, Sacred Art, Sang Bleu, Family Business, The Circle, Vagabond, Frith Street. Any decent shop will cover most types or you could even get tattoo by different people at the same shop.
