@mi7rennie said he does have SSD already.
I mean that thing is from 2009, still specs are not too bad!
First thing I'd do is save all the important stuff, then wipe the thing clean and start over with a fresh windows installation.

You Need SSD, and a motherboard capable of throughput... ie memory and processing bandwidth.
A well specced new Dell will cost as much, if not more than a Mac Book Pro.
I dont use iPhones either (use a sony android device) but for image work it has to be Mac.
Also run a dual boot OS X/Windows system on your shiny new mac and continue with CAD there...
