  • Thanks dude - btw, hope to be seeing Aram and Russ at the Reej this eve.

  • I use Enterprise a fair bit, always competitive on price and good service as standard.

  • Enterprise have been alright with me too.

  • Fitted a larger chainring and clearance is tight at the chainstay. When I put down the power there's a noise that sounds like the ring is catching the chainstay. Could it be lateral flex of the crank/ring (Sugino Messengers, cheap alu ring) or should I be looking elsewhere?

edit: Or frame flex causing the buzz? It's a supposedly noodly Cotic Roadrat

  • If it's the chainring hitting the chainstay, then surely there will be witness marks where contact has been made between the two?

  • My mate has a genesis equilibrium stainless steel frame. It came fitted with and FSA Gossamer Pro Megaexo 52/36T chainset and a FSA BB-CF86 BB86 Press-Fit Bottom bracket.

He would like to change to a 5800 chainset. How can this be achieved? The various BB specs are confusing me.

  • How can this be achieved?

    1.Insert cranks into BB.
    2.Ride

Shimano HT2 and FSA MegaExo share the same axle dimensions, 24mm both sides, so Shimano cranks fit FSA BBs and vice versa

  • Some help deciding on bike suitcases for air travel.

Am I right in saying that if you pack your bike in a case within the airlines dimensions and weight allowance, that you can check it in as a regular suitcase?

Following on from that. Anyone with a scicon aerocomfort case, how well are the bars protected?

  • That was easier than expected. Cheers.

  • Given their popularity, why is there not a successful nationwide chain of Indian/Chinese restaurants in the U.K.?

    I don't mean Indian/Chinese fusion, I mean individually.

  • Some airlines are still fussy and will class it as sporting equipment, even though it is no different to a standard suitcase. Only an issue at the check-in desk though so if it doesn't look like a bike bag then no-one will know.

Worth considering where you'll be flying, who you're flying with. Some airlines give a free extra bag for sporting equipment , Virgin for instance http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/gb/en/travel-information/baggage/sports-equipment.html

  • Every town has a curry house hence no market gap for a chain to exist ..

  • But there's a hell of a lot of bad curry houses.

Every town had a pub before Wetherspoons came along. Every town had a shop before Tesco came along.

You just have to do it better or cheaper. Not that I want it to happen.

  • There's that Masala Zone place, I've seen them around various towns. Best thing about them is their toilets are signposted 'Toilet Zone'.

All a bit Crystal Maze, but whatevs.

  • Maybe people aren't looking for homogeneity in curry (which is one of the main draws of a chain).

  • Masala Zone.

    Not nationwide, I realise.

  • Given their popularity, why is there not a successful nationwide chain of Indian/Chinese restaurants in the U.K.?

Because British people are content eating shit food, that and not being able to handle anything spicier than a glass of water despite invading half the world in the past.

  • Have you ever been to a restaurant?

  • What's a restaurants?

  • A close relative of a owl.

  • Because British people are content eating shit food, that and not being able to handle anything spicier than a glass of water despite invading half the world in the past.

    Ok, ed.

I'm glad you've cleared that one up. Ta.

  • You are right but each of them Spoons, Tesco had a USP (cheap, ease, access etc).
Its hard to sell a curry with a USP with already saturated market. Plus its so ubiquitous it cant be trendy like Mexican food or something.

Having said that restaurants like Dishoom, Prashad, Bundobust are doing phenomenal job and tbh I won't be surprised if Dishoom is already in the works for national expansion.

  • Yeah Dishoom I can see doing well. It does have a USP, in that its menu is quite different to the standard Indian menu you see across the country.

In terms of successful almost-chains there's Masala Zone (never been) and in the north there are some smaller localised ones. AFAIK they have no USP other than being "OK".

  • Sorry, missed loads of those replies upthread for some reason!
