  • Decided to go check out spectacle island, mfw I realised you could build a base over the entire fucking thing!

  • You can use wood for foundation, it's next to the concrete option.

  • Wood is required in both foundation options, wood + concrete / wood + steel. Oddly I find that despite supply lines etc it's wood that I'm lacking most even with high strength and various carrying weight perks and scrapping ALL the things.

  • Also the perks for finding rare component? Do you also scrap weapon too?

  • Haven't perked for finding components but will investigate. Tried a scavenging station which has a settler assigned but not sure where the goods go to?

I scrap weapons (usually before I even strip them of mods which is a mistake I know but I can't figure out how to reuse mods. I had a suppressor I wanted to fit on a rifle that was stripped from another rifle but I couldn't work out how to attach).

I think my wood shortage is just because I spent it on about 800 wooden floors...

  • The scavenging station go directly to your workshop, any unassigned settlers gather scavenger anyway, the station provide a little more.

If you got a lots of unassigned settlers, build a lots of station (like 5+), so your workshop get more junks.

  • That perks mean you can scarp even more stuff from a single item like glass, nuclear bits, screw, optic whether previously it's just steel and wood.

  • Sounds good - there's no level cap right? so in theory, eventually, I'll be able to unlock everything? :)

In other news I just stumbled across Mass Pike Interchange. Presumably it's part of a quest later because fuck me that was difficult to clear. A gunner commander who was basically invinsible, plus asaultron, turrets and dozens of gunners/conscripts. Went up there with Curie who did precisely fuck all while I used plasma grenades on the assaultron, alien blaster up close on the gunner commander while I spammed jet and pyscho and, old favourite, shotgun-to-the-head on the gunners/conscripts.

    Time for bed I think.

  • No levels cap, I was on 102 before starting a new games (siding with different faction).

Even then I have like 1/3rd perks covered (all Special maxed out), which is great as this mean by the time the DLC come out, I still got plenty left.

  • Right. Bought fallout 4. Best be as good as you lot make out.

  • It is quite good tho

But it has shortcomings that nibble away at it

  • It is good, though far for perfect. I am on PC. Have not experienced buggy quests, but the game tends to crash every now and then.

  • Anyone playing it with 4gb of ram? I have more in the post but I'm impatient.

  • Just wait. I wish I had. Same for Witcher 3. Turns a wonderful experience into a bitter stuttering one.

  • Ok. Will do. Annoyingly I have 24gb in my iMac and another 4 kicking about in boxes but nothing that fits.

  • Last week I bought destiny (yeah I know - I'm not that fussed about playing the latest games), it's definitely quite fun in an arcade-y sort of way, but does the enemy ai ever get any better? It seems like they just take more hits but remain stupid?

  • Hey guys - long shot but don't suppose anyone is interested in owning GTA5 for PC? Brand new still sealed - £20?

  • The ai doesn't get any better apart from the robot things. It's good enough to screw you up if you wander in to an area too tough for your level though.

  • Yeah go on then. Also, anyone got an old hdd kicking about? Need a media drive and I've lost my spare.

  • I bought Destiny when it came out. I also bought the two expansions when they came out for like £20 a piece. I haven't touched it since The Taken King came out until yesterday. I went to play some pvp and realised the crucible is all locked down. Since TTK came out they have locked me out of the game modes I used to play, and likewise the daily and weekly strike missions. That sucks.

"Ok" I thought, "I'll just get TKK as an expansion for £20 like last time." The cost is quickly racking up, but let's see. Can you download just TKK? Nope, all you can buy is the version with the original game and 2 previous expansions. Now I'm basically being called a mug by Bungie for being £80 deep in a game I can no longer play and have to buy the whole thing all over again with an rrp of £50.

Proper shit service to everyone that bought the game before TKK.

  • Finally succumbed and bought Xbone, but have resisted the temptation to join the Fallout party - residual guilt about the proportion of my life spent in Skyrim and visions of the gf sneering 'So you're just building houses again - why don't I just get you a Lego set and at least I can watch the fucking telly'.

So raiding tombs instead. Really beautifully put together, even if there seems to be very little actual tomb action again. And don't remember Crofty saying so many sweary words in the originals - the little minx has some mouth on her these days.

  • Ha, yeah for some reason my SO gave me FO4 for xmas - I asked her to exchange it for something with a bit more instant gratification. No way was I gonna risk a Skyrim situation again.

  • I still don't yet hate Metal Gear Solid 5.

In fact, its getting better having unlocked all the buddies and deciphering (gettit?) the base management and development etc.
Also, the gameplay is beginning to click a bit more now that I'm familiar with the AI and how to use the environment for sneaking around more effectively rather than just going in and blasting everybody and subsequently having to retry levels 10 times as a result. Thinking actually goes a really long way and it rewards you for taking your time.

Using the sniper woman on missions feels almost like cheating though - she sets up somewhere and just does all the killing for you while you run in and take everything, including tanks, using your magic balloon thing.

Would love to try doing it with zero kills, where possible. A lot of the levels are just "kill this guy" though.

  • It's always possible to do it without killing anyone, I've nearly completed the game without killing anyone apart from those damn helicoptors in the side missions to deal with the tank squads.
