I have a wedding DVD which I'm trying to rip to a flash drive so my parents can watch it on their tv (no DVD player but a tv with USB ports that play video).
I can rip it fine using handbrake and get it on to the flash drive but I have an issue with the picture quality, everything looks quite jaggedy (if that's a word). My first thought was that the tv didn't cope too well with upscaling from the dvd resolution, and I think that is part of the problem.
However, playing back the original source on my PC at HD shows the same issue, although not quite to the same extent.
Any suggestions on how to produce a video file which will smooth this out a bit? Using either windows (preferably) or Linux. Cheers.

Sounds like an interlacing issue. Which is as far as my knowledge goes, but might give you something to google?

Muji seems to have lasted well for us.

Can you not just copy the vob files to the usb stick and play them directly.
Just tried it and it works on my low spec LG tv. -

@6pt I tried playing around with the handbrake settings for interlacing but didn't seem to make much difference. Maybe I'll try googling and see if I can actually find out rather than randomly adjusting things.
@freezing77 Even the VOB files don't seem great when played through the tv. I think the upscaling from USB sources may be a bit crap.

I manged to pick up a suit in the sales. The only problem was that the only trousers left were massive. I took a punt and bought it anyway.
My question is, whether it is possible to totally alter a pair of trousers. We're talking something like a 40 down to a 33, so the legs need doing as well as the waist.
Posible? Impractical?
Any suggestions on where to get the work done?
Cheers.

Been reading up and reviews on Luganos aren't terrific, have you ridden the halos? Found them for ~£18 tan wall or £12 black, wondering if I really need that tan wall...

Ridden courier Berlin, and the 38c twin rails. Not a huge fan of either. Paselas are £20 on a few sites at the moment...

Just opened google maps and my dentist appointment time and location are flagged up. I never entered it into my calendar so I think they've deduced it from my emails. My question is, what the fuck is that all about?

It's about your being the product google sells to its customers. The more they know about you, the more they can sell you for, so they spy on absolutely everything.

If you just want them to read your emails, it's https://mail.google.com/ If you want to give them complete access to everything, you probably need an Android phone or tablet, but using google's various cloud services will get you most of the way.

Do they spy on me as much as windows 10?

Depends a bit on how you log in to Windows. If you use a Microsoft account to log in, it's about the same.

Going to rent a car in Edinburgh for a few days in April. I don't drive, nor do I rent cars often. Taking it around the country. Is any rental place better than others? Hertz came up first when I googled.
-

They won't rent one to you unless you can drive.

Makes sense. I don't know why they wouldn't trust me, but fair enough.
Luckily there will be a functioning adult with a driver's license who will be doing the driving, so the question still stands. (Could be a pain booking, but still need to work out who to book with).
Does the price jump up with car rental places like trains/plains?

I think they are all pretty similar, I use enterprise a lot through work and they are excellent, but I suspect that may have something to do with the relationship we have due to the amount we hire from them. My parents recently used Hertz as travelling into europe they were cheapist by a big margin.Think about one way hires so you don't have to do a circular route.
euh, hipster? I'm way too old for that shit (and have no beard growth at all) ;)
these are the ones I visit every now and then:
http://hetiskoers.nl - a good cycling blog with short stories about cycling and cyclists mostly, not so much news or pro cycling info
http://soigneur.nl - hipsterish, like Rouleur, but Dutch (and some articles in English)
http://wielerflits.nl - for news on pro cycling
http://wielerprikbord.nl - forum about competetive cycling and everything around it
when I think of another one I'll send you a pm, @Soul
