• 25.4mm is the old British standard, which was adopted in the Far East.

    26.0mm is the Italian standard, except for old Cinelli which were 26.4mm: they switched in the early Nineties.

    So if you want 25.4mm, they'll either be old English bars (eg GB) or Japanese (eg Nitto).

    If you want Cinelli, the old ones will be 26.4mm and the current, 26.0mm.

  • Ah right, thanks for the info, I was a planning to team the Cinelli bars with a Cinelli stem I already have. I hadn't measured the clamp area on the stem but presumably being Cinelli they'll be for 26 or 26.4mm? Time to get the vernier callipers out!
