  • I looked into alternatives to the winter socks (i.e. thick merino socks) and the Rapha socks on sale were actually cheaper than basic ones on eBay/Amazon etc. at the time. They were pretty much the cheapest available. And I don't need to say they almost certainly wouldn't fit as well or be as nicely designed.

If you have an alternative that costs less than £10 a pair please link away though.

  • Today in Helsinki used in -21.c a pair of merino socks bought from XXL(Nordic sports chain store) for 1,90€ with my lake 303's.

But go ahead and stock on rapha. Just because you can't find cheaper socks in th UK does not mean that they do not exist. Also not too keen on rapha socks quality wise. Pretty ok but over priced.

  • By now we are both knocking back the wine, the only difference being that Kaurismäki tends to empty the glass in one gulp.

  • XC skiing socks.
Nice warm woolen socks that are well suited to cycling, last well, and aren't mad expensive. It's basically all I wear for everything for half the year.

I still have rapha merino for mild rides. Because they are fancy looking.
