Help out some Australians with an On-One orders

Posted on
  • So there's a few Australians on fixed.org.au that want to buy some bars from On-One, however, postage to Australia is ridiculously expensive, like £60 for one set of £5 bars.

Would anyone be interested in liaising with these guys and posting the bars to them? They're not members on here, but I can vouch for them (like that means anything). They'll obviously be happy to make it worth your while.

  • Also, please excuse my poor grammar in the title.

  • I'll do it.

I've acted as a middleman for a couple of Danish forumengers who wanted Islabikes (they don't ship outside the UK): they'll vouch for me, I'm sure.

    Send me a PM.

  • G'day

So I've had a little look around to try and figure out how much it'd cost to post some On One Fleegles over to me here in Melbourne, and it is actually pretty bloody expensive. The cheapest I could work out was about £40, which is pretty steep for some £5 bars. It's strange, because I've bought from On One before and it wasn't so exy.

I reckon I'll leave it for now and try and find something a bit easier to get hold of. Thanks for considering the idea though!

  • Royal Mail max single dimension for an ordinary package is 60cm, however the way to get around it is to make a tube which can be 90cm long with a max total dimensions of 104cm based upon length plus 2x the diameter, thus even with bars of 72cm in the case of the fleegles you can make the package 74cm long and 15cm in diameter and they'll fit inside & can be sent via ordinary parcel post and it not costing the earth :D

  • Hey good one. £13.90 post in that case! Still keen on helping out Scilly? I'll PM.

    Ta!

  • Thanks Scilly! You're a bloody legend.

  • Thanks Scilly! You're a bloody legend bit of a cunt.

    You're welcome!

  • I've been meaning to update this thread for future reference.

It ended up costing £20.05: £13.90 is < 1.0kg and not tracked and our package was just over a kilo and we opted for tracking. In the event of a loss in transit, getting compensated is not such a ballache if the package is tracked.

The other thing to remember is the cost of a mailing tube: £12/£14. I made one from the tubes bottles of whisky come in.

Finally, to give you an idea of the time in transit, it was posted first thing on 31st December.

I'm happy to help out again, but I'll put this thread on ignore in due course, so you'll need to send me a PM.
