I was in touch with the seller and seem to remember it had been modified in some way: 120mm at the rear?
Lovely brake bridge!

Hi, the seller thought it was 120, it is 126, he was going to put track ends on but decided not to in the end.

When he said that I thought it must have been a dedicated SS Time trial bike, he sent some pics over saw the gear hanger and figured it was 126. Very well made and fairly light I would guess 531 of some sort by a well respected builder.

120 for a five speed seems a bit odd, I know some 3 speed were 120, as it happens I have a put Campy record hubs on open pro rims with a 6 speed TT block. Looks like a good match, had a couple of people after this funny enough.

I was time trailing in the 80,s on a Raleigh 753 ex team bike, running Campy Nuovo. It was beautiful I just loved looking at it, Italian style what,s not to love. Anyway a guy from my club turned up with a box and a huge smile on his face. Called us over and opened the box, I think most of dribbled at the contents Ofmega Mistral chainset, (still gets me moist today)
It really was a thing of beauty in fact at the time none of us had seen anything quite like it. I had a bad car crash a little while later fractured C3 and C4. Spent nearly 6 months in a body frame so that finished the time trailing and I never got to own the chainset.
Until now that is, found on t'bay last night and purchased, I think this chainset will look great against the frame. Was thinking about selling until I found the Ofmega, going to keep and build the rest up the same now.

Been writing a dissertation today so pretty worded out anyway a few changes to the bike. Cinelli stem and 51.151 bars with modolo levers and Maya bar tape. Love this bar tape and not had too many bikes I can use it on so happy.
Changed the wheel set for Hope Titanium hubs on Mavic Reflex rims running 8 speed campy block, lovely hubs light and spin forever.
Modolo Mach1 brakes and a Campy seat post with a simplex downtube shifter.
So just waiting on the cranks and this is ready for summer.

This is looking great! It's a real longshot, but I think I borrowed this frame from a clubmate way back in the mists of time and did a '56' on it.

Hi Colin I got this frame from a guy called Chris a time trialist from the Brentwood area this is the info he sent me.
"A couple of years ago I rode the North Norfolk 100, and Doug Epson (Curlylugs on the CTT Forum) kindly sent me a photo. I then asked him whether he had built the frame; he said he had built a number of them, notably for his son Gary Epson who was 30 mile comp record holder, and I think for John French. Doug said he thought my frame was built by Tommy Quick but later modified and enamelled by Doug"
So if you were Norfolk way possibly or it may have been one of the other frames Doug built for his son.

The one I rode was definitely a Tommy Quick, I bought a dissimilar one from him in the 90s on the strength of the quality of your one (or its twin). Like most of that era I got my arse kicked by Gary Empson and John French. Oddly, I bought a track Rourke with a C Record chainset and Sheriff star rear wheel plus C Record ti seatpin from John French (for £200!), the wheel and chainset are on my Goff and Pete Tadros is still using the frame as a winter hack....

Could well have been this one then, Chris thought it was built in 82/3 so it's probably been through a few hands. Must admit when I picked it up I was not that impressed, in fact I got another two soon after. It was when I gave the frame a good clean and started building it up I started liking it.
Feels well balanced and very light, can't wait to get the cranks on see how it rides. Was thinking of putting campy 8 speed ergo,s on, may well do that after I have ridden it a bit.

Just put 130mm 8 speed on with out having to cold set, perfectly centred so pretty happy with that.

Been a bit busy with Uni stuff and still waiting for the cranks from the USA. So some but not a lot of progress, decided to re-wrap the bars with a diamond pattern. Just got some cheap cotton tape to practise and fairly happy, may redo and scotch guard a bit later with better quality tape.
Picked up an Ofmega rear Mistral mech to match the cranks some poly plastic material but seems sturdy enough.

Cranks arrived and beautiful they are, one problem though. The BB spindle is 118mm I need 111mm, figured I would use a Campy buy no. According to Sheldon the Ofmega is specific and other spindles will not fit. So I tried early DA and Chorus no good so looking for 70,s/80,s campy record now hoping it will fit. Any suggestions if it doesn't would be appreciated.

Hey guys just picked this frame up, I decided to go 650 front on my Concorde for a more relaxed approach to life. This is one step further it,s 700/700 so should be very easy, it was resprayed by Doug Empson hence the decals.
Some very nice touches like the rear aero brake bridge and pinched aero fork blades and not to forget fillet brazed, so some pics.
Just slung on a pair of Mavic OpenPro on Campag Record hubs as I will be keeping to 6/7 speed and planning the rest of the build on Record or ofmega not sure yet.
