  • It's also fun.

  • And if you do it properly you're not using the gearbox, you are using the compression of the engine.

  • Trying doing that on a model t...

  • So about the same as the ambulances then.

  • it's had a different gearbox for the engine but it does 70 at 3500 revs so may get a 5th gear overdrive added at a later date or change the diffs, whichever is best/cheaper

  • Similar though I think ambulances have a concrete, or similar, under floor to lower the centre of gravity so that they don't roll. The Kebab Vans were light and lethal.

  • Guy who looks after my Volvo said that for a while the best source of barely used, cheap-as-chips Rover V8 engines was out of Pit ambulances, as they had to have one on site at all times but they were rarely ever used - I'm guessing they were relatives of your Kebab van?

  • Once they were limited they were unstressed. I would think pit ambulances are not used much so they would have low mileage too. Makes sense to use their engines. I co-owned a 1760 Westfield 7 many moons ago and have always wanted to try a Seight.

  • The one that I drove was converted and never saw the slab. Maybe taken out by the time i worked on it.

  • I mean they are handy when you're spannering. You can keep all the tools you need on the flat wings. The tool roll should go under the passenger side of the dash on a couple of rubber bungee things when not in use.

I miss the space in that car, it's very light and airy inside. The ride is great too. If I had £80k the pro version with the aluminium interior is a nice version. The G63 seems a bit too dark and techy inside.

  • ah yes - understood, i've ordered a bottle jack and fire extinguisher to fit in the clips under the driver seat too, it's been ok to work on so far - i'm no mechanic but hoping i can pick it all up along the way!

  • The chubby bloke might be as irritating as thrush, but the long fella is a fairly competant mechanic and explains things well enough.

  • yeah good episode, that actual g wagon is for sale at the moment on auto trader £15k i think

  • Heyzoos. A bit toppy, no?

  • DanB wins a prize - just been to top up my front tyres yet again and this time the valve was at the bottom of the rim, full of rainwater - and noticeably bubbling when I had inflated the tyre again.

The valves are causing the tyres to deflate, god-fucking-damn-them.

  • CGAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIII

  • Anyone else following the Paris Dakar?

  • use a valve key to tighten it up?

  • It's not coming from the valve, but the valve stem/seal with the wheel.

  • Go to watling tyres in catford, they will sort you out.

  • How is "go to Catford" ever the right answer to anything?

  • If you're in Lewisham?

  • I raise you Charlton.

  • Can you beat an ace of Woolwich?
