You asked me a while back about my trip in the touring thread, I did the stretch from Vancouver to Seattle and then down the coast to LA (though I went around the peninsula rather than in to Portland). I'll try and set aside half an hour to do a proper post about it back in that thread tonight! PM me or ask in the thread if you have any specific questions

Great stuff, cheers. I've got a while to think about it, so I look forward to your report and I'm sure I'll have all sorts of questions. Whilst it's early in the planning stages, I've spent a fair amount of time fiddling about on Google Maps working out hypothetical routes, daily mileage, etc. but that could all go out the window based on practical experience. :)

Slowly getting my new Planet X London Road tour-ready. Chromoplastics + home-made mud-flap, and a Blackburn EX2 rack installed in the last 24 hrs, and will shortly be picking up a pair of Ortlieb panniers.
Plan for Summer is a 3 week trip incorporating Vancouver (where my bro lives) to Portland by train via Seattle, then ride the Pacific Coast Highway to San Fran (~800 miles). But I'm completely new to touring, so also planning a one-week UK trial tour in May to work out what works, and to prove to the gf what a fantastic idea it all is...
