  • It's up to the organiser though isn't it? So they could use their discretion to allow him in? Or is it hard and fast cutoff time = no wildcards?

  • I don't think it is a published figure but there were people posting on TTF who were on the start list saying their best was a very short 56.

  • I'm not sure, but I think the discretion is supposed to be around seeding, rather than entry, so if every spot was filled with 100 mile times and he didn't have one, technically he shouldn't get in, however, if he did a very average 100, the organisers could give him a seeded place based on a the belief that he will be very close to the competitive end of the field based on his previous 100 time as well as his 50, and 12 record from last year.

I wouldn't put it past people to be very pedantic about it given the hullabaloo that took place over the distance of the course!!

  • There were actually exactly as many entries as spaces + reserves this year, and all reserves got a ride.

  • I would be quite surprised if the Newbury 12hr got >150 riders.

  • Oh, didn't know it was a 150 limit.

  • presume you are talking about Hounslow?

At least having a time puts me ahead of anyone who doesn't have one even if it is a bit slow compared to what I should be able to do now!

  • So does the thread have any advice for a slow old man thinking of doing a season of TTs. Does the season open in Feb? There seem to be precious few events listed at http://www.ctt.org.uk/events..

Should I/where do I buy the handbook?

  • Do one. Do the second one a bit faster. Keep doing this, and if you stop getting faster buy something that'll make you faster.

Season really kicks off in April, anything before that is more of a hardriders IMO. Events will be up soon on CTT website. I've never bothered buying a handbook, most events are online entry these days.

  • Thank you

    and

what is hardriders? and someone on my commute mentioned something about a series of slightly hillier TTs, but have obviously forgotten the name.. does that ring any bells?

  • Yup - hardriders tend to be hilly TT's of varying length - often not "standard" 10,25 distances but loops that are say 23 or 28miles. The ones around here (West DC) are normally 12-30miles and some have a lot more climbing than others.

  • I thought it was just a generic term for an early season TT, but apparently it's a series. SPOCO normally refers to a hillier parcours.

  • ah, SPOCO, that's the one he mentioned. Thanks both....

  • Are you a member of a club?

  • Hardriders are the best. You get the real time triallists at them. Not the time chaseres.

Reminds me I want to enter some early season hard riders.

  • You mean you get the road riders at them not the real TTers.

  • I am, CC-London

  • Hey man. I'm no roadie. I transcend genres.

  • You transcend genders?

  • It's the way forward

  • Too easy.

  • You transcend genders?

Tricky; for all the detail in the amended Regulation 10 there still doesn't seem to be any provision for people who can't or won't fit into a binary model of gender.

  • Welsh 12 is meant to be a new course for the national. Details not announced yet but might be a bit faster...
