Generally speaking, I'm not "all that" for the whole BRANDING thang, but...
Either way, full metal rep for the ramp/hood transition.

Christmas break nearly over and I fixed up a few bikes while in France.
The "La Poste" delivery whip (made in 2000 by CycleEurope) is now complete.
Central stand has been cleaned up and painted black.
Front tyre has been changed to a new one.
Rear sprocket have been changed from a 22t to a 18t to give a more suitable GI (front chainring is circa 32t).
I am happy with the work done on the roller brakes, I have never dealt with them before so it is good to learn something new.I also serviced a small 1978 Arc-En-Ciel steel bike.
It is 49cm squared with 600A wheels which are 541mm in diameter so you could also use 650c or 26" wheels on it.
Loads of new parts on it, although I know it is still not worth much (it will hit the classified shortly).
New inner/outer brake cables in red, new red bar tape, used aero levers, new Michelin City J 600A x 37mm tyre, used KMC track chain, new 18t freewheel, new brake pads, Pivotal saddle and seatpost (which have been in the parts box for over 3 years...).
Nice little bike:

Hi dudes
I was the proud owner of the pink "yves lagalisse" track frame, but was unfortunate enough to crash it about a month ago.
It's looking to be an insurance/solicitor jobby, I just wanted to know how I would go about valuing the frame? Framebuilder?
Forks are bent and crack/tear/crease in top tube and diagonal tube.
Many thanks for any help.
Will post the sad pictures soon :(

Gonna cost more than what you paid for it.

Valuing=/=repairing

Likely to need a new fork, a new top rube and downtube definitely, on top of a fresh paint job.
Not gonna be cheap in the slightest.

Thanks for the answers.
I most likely wont look at repairing it, I just wonder how these things are done thats all. I guess it's a what you paid situation and bollocks to sentimental value / uniqueness of the bike in question.
Working my way through this but wondered whether anyone had to go frame builder or special bike shop for valuation etc.

It looks like you misunderstood the question.
It's not whether it's worthwhile to repair, but about how much money he can get out of the insurance.@Kaaaaaaandries
pick up the phone and call around a bit to decent frame builders and good guy bikeshops and ask them how they approach insurance valuation. It can vary wildly. My favourite shop over here base the value on what a similar bike with the same components would cost new in his shop, which can be quite a lot for rare, old or custom stuff. -

how much money he can get out of the insurance.
The party at fault should restore him to the condition he was in before. If he likes his old bike, and it is not possible to buy a new/used one the same or better, then the cost to the other party will be the cost the repair. It's not about how much money you can get, it's about how much it will cost to put things back to the way they were before.

Hoping I can remember to check back on this thread, tag me if you have a good answer for me!
Its the middle of winter and I'm just toying around with my bikes at the local "recycled cycles" swap shop. Im working on a pursuit bike currently. I would like to know what a good gear ratio for track riding/racing would be? Currently riding 52X18… I haven't learned how to calculate my gear inches yet… : (

http://www.bikecalc.com/gear_inches
52x18 is 76.5inch
You probably want a 15-17t cog giving somewhere between 90-80inch. These all assume a 25mm tyre. A 20mm tyre will give slightly less inches (not by much) -

Hi,
I don't post as much as I should do on this forum, but here's my beloved rides:Bamboo bike (made by a friend):
My build:
Cinelli Mash:
Look AL264:
And my new project:
Full french build? or sled? I don't know yet!
Finally after over off the bike I received all the parts to put it back together again.
those aren't Zipp's.
