I had that with my right achilles on a week-long trip in the summer (St Malo to Avignon). It swelled up, and just as you described, was tight and 'squeaky', but no real pain initially. Happened halfway through the trip, I carried on, it stayed swollen and squeaky, only started really hurting on (I think) the 2nd or 3rd day after. I should have stopped really (especially with added knee pain and hand cramps), but we were too near the end. I was quite worried that it would be something lasting, but it just went down by itself about 4-5 days after I finished, even with walking on it still, and no recurrunce since.
(Knee pain went away too after a few days, hand cramps took about 8-10 days, and full nerve/pinching/gripping strength took about 7-8 weeks to return.)
Did my longest ride ever last Thursday. Didnt stretch when I got home. Next day my left achilles was tight, I stupidly ignored this. Yesterday morning I did my standard club run, I was rearing new leg warmers that were quite snug fit.
Yesterday sfternoon my left achilles swelled and was squeeky/ creaky. No pain.
I am currently icing / hot treatment and ibuprofen. I could potentially take most of this week off to rest totally.
Dont want to go to gp if poss because walking.
Any other advice?
