The only thing with Google Maps that ever catches me out is that I don't seem to be able to voice accept new routes.
This is the "A faster route is now available and will save 12 minutes, click Accept to use the new route.".
Without the screen visible, mounted, easy to reach... there's nothing I can do but stay on the slower route. There isn't an "auto-accept faster routes if it saves more than 10 minutes" option. There doesn't appear to be a voice command to accept the new route.
But that's it. The only criticism I have.
It even lets you offline store maps so that you can navigate and route without a phone signal (though obv' you miss the traffic notifications).
Google Maps navigation is scarily good.
So good I don't even use a mount or screen. I just connect the bluetooth to the stereo in my car, put some music on, and let Google Maps reduce the volume to give me spoken directions.
And it hasn't failed me once.
Seriously, not a missed turning or anything.
And without having the screen on, I barely use a couple of % of battery in a 1 hour drive.
I can't recommend Google Maps highly enough for sat nav.
