• Hi all, hoping for some advice. I was hit by a driver last Thursday on a roundabout. Driver stopped and we swapped all details, took photos etc. I was ok apart from quite a lot of cuts and bruises. Nearly everything I was wearing has been wrecked and the bike has been taken into a shop to have a full crash assessment (carbon). Driver told me he'd like to deal with it outside his insurance company which is fine I guess? I haven't reported in to the police because he seems to be a decent enough guy and I don't want to get him into any trouble.

I've now sent him across the full cost of replacing the ruined items and made him aware that there could be further costs depending on what is found from the crash assessment (hear back tomorrow on that). I'm just starting to get the sense he's dodging me a bit. He has said he will reply to the email tomorrow so I guess we'll see.

My question is, am I doing the right thing so far? If he does start ignoring me what should I do? Get in touch with the police? Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there is any CCTV and no one stopped at the time. Might be worth mentioning that I have his company details, his address and know who his insurance is with. I'd rather not get into a long drawn out process so any advice would be hugely appreciated. Thanks.

    Jake
