'The axle is captive by the bearings. Normally it is not a component which ever needs to be removed. However, to remove it, it needs to be pressed out with the bearings (on one side). Those bearings would need replacing. Care should be taken not to damage the aluminium axle and threads when pressing out.'
Might sound like a complete novice here but have yet to see a tool to push out an axle?
So finally got some sense from Swiss side.
