Imber? Good result.

Nice one. I've been surprised how doing less gets better progress than doing more. I was doing walk/run intervals for weeks.

Still a good result whichever village!

No its Copehill Down village. N.E of there at g.r 017453
Spooky as actually. Why I love map running is that we go places punters dont -

Spooky indeed. Access to these villages is limited so not many folks would get the opportunity you had to have a gander.

Less seems to work for me too as my runs are often sporadic due to childcare.

Can anyone recommend me a head torch for trail running please?
-
• #12186
I have a LED Lenser H7 which I love - nice adjustable beam, tilt etc.
It's not as bright as others but I personally don't mind - for years I got by off road with a crappy Energiser work headtorch.
I do think that when I get a new one I'll look at the rechargeable options that seem to be about now - the only negative I have with the Lenser is it takes AAAs.

This blog by 'fell running guide' is a useful one, it asks questions that'll help you decide.

I've got by with akpkit gamma, also found a hand torch on rougher ground helpful (lower angle of beam or something). Was shown a fenix that was brighter than the sun recently, nice but needs special battery.

Another vote here for the Gamma for general use.

Ditto... Seemed to be pretty cheap compared to the other options too when I bought it a few years ago. I've done loads of night time trail running with it and it's more than sufficient for my needs.

Late to the party on this one... but my plans for 2016:
Work on my mental strength when running so I don't have a mini-meltdown every race.
Continue working on shoddy technique.
DO MORE STRETCHING.
Another marathon (probably autumn, any suggestions?).
Find shoes that are less ugly, and less pink.
Retain all my toenails. -

Good luck hats! I wish I could run again. If you are looking for a good challenge this autumn. Jungfrau mountain marathon in Switzerland, more hike than run. Stunning scenery from Interlaken to the foot of the Eiger (kleine scheidegg) mostly trails and paths with bagpipe player to greet you at the highest point, and target time of 6hrs 30 mins as a limit.
Since my knee injury last summer, jumping 40ft into a waterfall in Utah, I can't seem to run at all. My touch rugby career may also be over :(

I have the seo7r led lenser and it's pretty good, i think they're all probably much of a muchness. it's useless in total dark when its foggy and your breath is steaming up as the light illuminates your breath and creates a blinding fog around your head which you can't see through, though i imagine this is common to all head torch use in such conditions.

in other news i just did a run... outside. 5.5 miles of non dreadmill running.
miles 1&2 fucking hurt like fuck. my shins were sore as fuck like someone was kicking them but it wasnt shin splints more like unused shin muscles being woken up for first time in 8 months. (which is kind of what was happening).
struggled through it and thought about binning it off and heading home but got to mile 3 and was at the point where I can run over the top of a big hill and be the furthest point from my house of the entire loop I was doing or head back home and finish in about .75 miles. so I chose the hill (good lad).
most of my running woes are definitely in my head though, asides from the off ache and pain on the run as my body got used to running on pavement again it went ok, not that my brain would accept that in the slightest. feels strange that I currently feel less prepared for my next marathon than I did for my first.
finished the run with some decent endorphins going though so think i just need to grit my way through the next week of running outside and I might be back to normal.

I'm in Colorado from Friday for 10 days and want to go running, sunrise is half past seven which (combined with the total lack of lighting outside the area with pavements) means I need a light.
It'll be absolute pitch dark, although the stars do give a decent light sometimes I don't think they will be enough!
I'd only need a couple of hours burn time, but I'd want that burn time to be highly effective for off-road running on totally unlit terrain.
Being a man who likes a gadget I'm looking at the Petzl Nao - does that sound like it fits the bill?
-

Have to say I do like the look of the Nao - no personal experience though.
