  • Yeah they're fine for rolling around in, but boiling hot if you put any effort in and they are very waterproof. Don't really see what they offer that a race cape, or a softshell doesn't though. Race cape will pack down (hardshell doesn't really) and is a bit more breathable. Softshell is loads more breathable, warm and has vents.

  • i bought a softshell in the black friday sale and sent it back, both because of sizing and also because (and I'm sorry to utter this yet again in this thread) for fast rides I'd much rather a gabba with arm warmers/gilet, and for cutting about town I'm not really wanting that ninja look that the softshell only comes in either.

In other news I nearly bought the hideous coral brevet jersey in a fit of desperation as I really wanted the black one. If anyone has an unwanted one in large I'm yer man.

  • fair enough. I guess you live in Scotland so a hardshell sort of makes sense weather-wise. I was reluctant to sell mine, despite never wearing it - it was the nicest looking cycling jacket I've owned.

  • I couldn't decide if the coral was hideous or great. It's a tough call, but in the end I decided that it might clash with my red beard so I got a long sleeve jersey instead which seems to have a reflective band across the chest also - maybe not quite as visible as a black brevet, but hopefully close.

  • Large back in stock, in case you want to order
